For the past 5 years, Good Shepherd Institute has been proud to offer the signature community-wide event on end-of-life issues. Our annual Good Shepherd Institute Dinner features world-renowned keynote speakers to encourage the kinds of conversations that lead to understanding, quality and compassion in end-of-life care. For our 40th Anniversary, we are thrilled to welcome back one of the “world’s 100 most influential thinkers”, [TIME Magazine] Dr. Atul Gawande who last addressed our sold out audience in 2014.
Dr. Gawande’s bold visions for improving performance have made him one of the most sought-after speakers in medicine. He is a surgeon, New Yorker staff writer and the author of 4 books, including most recently Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End. Dr. Gawande is a MacArthur Fellowship winner, and recipient of Academy-Health’s Impact Award for highest research impact on health care. Dr. Gawande is a singular voice, bringing deep experience to the mission of improving healthcare delivery for all.
Having made international news recently for his new role as CEO of the not-for-profit healthcare initiative formed by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan Chase, Dr. Gawande is continuing this mission. His focus is on incubating new models of care demonstrated to improve outcomes, satisfaction, and cost-efficiency for their one-million-plus employees and dependents.
