LINX Dance Students of Wellesley earned first-place category finishes and top placements overall in the International Dance Challenge at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, MA on January 28th and 29th, 2017. Students from 8 dance schools, age 6 through 18, participated in the competition. 33 LINX Dance Team and Company students, age 8 – 17, competed in solos, duos, trios and small groups.
The event marks the first dance competition of the year for LINX, and their second time participating in the International Dance Challenge. “I was so proud of all of our dancers. Many had solos for the first time and they rose to the occasion. For our first competition, I am so happy with how everyone performed,” said LINX Dance Director Heather Emley. The dancers enjoyed the opportunity to finally get on stage and show what they have been working on, gaining valuable feedback to grow as performers.
LINX Dance students’ awards included: 5 first place, 6 second place, 1 third place, 1 fourth place, 1 fifth place, and 4 special judges award. Additionally, LINX took 3rd place in the Stimela – Ultimate Group Teen Challenge Championship.
LINX had 2 groups invited to participate in Entertainment Showdown, a duo performance of Heaven and a trio performance of Brand New You.
