BostonSight® is a 501(C)(3) eye healthcare organization located in Needham, MA. Since 1992, we have been restoring the sight of those suffering with complex corneal disease; our patients – with their newly-restored vision – are able to reclaim their lives.
Founded in 1992, BostonSight has treated over 10,000 patients. Annually we see 350 new patients per year and over 1,000 returning patients through comprehensive visits. Our commitment is to restore the visual function of corneal disease sufferers, regardless of their ability to pay.
BostonSight’s patient treatment process uses scleral lens technology. A scleral lens is an oversized “contact” lens that rests on the sclera (the white of the eye) and creates a tear-filled vault over the cornea. Scleral lenses are designed to treat a variety of eye conditions that impact the function of the cornea; many of which do not respond to other forms of treatment.
BostonSight PROSE® (Prosthetic Replacement of the Ocular Surface Ecosystem) is an iterative medical treatment model developed by BostonSight which restores visual function to patients with complex corneal disease. The treatment process makes use of our FDA-approved, custom-designed, fabricated prosthetic device technology (i.e. a highly-customized scleral lens).
In much the same way that a prosthetic arm or leg can restore function, PROSE prosthetic devices replace or support impaired function of the ocular surface.
When other treatments have failed, BostonSight represents hope.
