For the past 8 years Centre Street Food Pantry (CSFP) has been providing nutritious food to families from the eight communities we serve (Newton and bordering towns.) This year we’ve served an average of 350 local families each month, around 800-1000 individuals monthly. • Shoppers receive healthy food, produce, baked goods, protein, and staples, providing food for a week of healthy meals. A focus on nutrition and whole-family health ensures shoppers can also receive gluten-free and dairy free items, fish and tofu, diapers, hygiene items, and household cleaning items. • We strive to maintain a dignified and compassionate environment for our shoppers, from the minute they step into the Pantry and are greeted by smiling volunteers. Shoppers are guided through the Pantry to select items for themselves, based on family size. • Additionally, we have a Kids' Club program which fills a critical gap during school breaks by providing supplemental food. In November we offer gift cards and Thanksgiving meal prep items to make holiday time less stressful. Frequently we have a social worker available to help shoppers figure out where to get the necessities and services they need. • We rely on the generosity of the community: 90% of our funding comes from local donors. Strong partnerships with local businesses are essential at CSFP. Then there are the dozens of volunteers of all ages who help us on a weekly basis stock and distribute food and support our fundraising and food drive efforts.
