Community Services Nonprofit
Founded by volunteers in 1989, Newton Community Pride (NCP) is a non-profit organization building community for all to enjoy through arts and culture programming, supporting beautification projects and promoting volunteerism. Our programs are funded through business sponsorships and individual donations. The challenge of covid-19 caused NCP to pivot and expand its mission to provide in addition to arts, culture & community programing – public art initiatives, community micro grants and a high school scholarship fund. Our largest grant recipient is the city of Newton’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department.
NCP also acts as fiscal agent for event organizers and special projects that align with its mission such as Newton Neighbors, Newton Open Studios & PorchFEST. NCP relies heavily on volunteers throughout the year for support. Some of our initiatives and events include Newton OutDoors, The Artful Piano Project, The Linda Plaut Newton Festival of the Arts, NewtonSERVES, the gardens in Newton Center and in the Highlands, the July 4th fireworks celebration and free summer concerts across the city.
Newton Community Pride is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization with a thirteen-member board of directors led by Chair, Gloria Gavris. and staffed by Blair Lesser Sullivan, Executive Director.
