Newton-Wellesley Hospital Board of Trustees appoints four new members
Newton-Wellesley Hospital (NWH) has appointed Thomas Beatty, MD, Christopher Collins, Brenda Haynes, MD and Liza Meyerhardt, MD to its Board of Trustees. The appointments were announced earlier this summer at Newton-Wellesley's Annual Meeting.
“As a non-profit, community teaching hospital, Newton-Wellesley relies upon members of the community to help further its mission to provide high-quality patient care with an exceptional experience,” said Dr. Michael R. Jaff, President, Newton-Wellesley Hospital. “I am proud to welcome our new Trustees and look forward to working with such an esteemed group. Dr. Thomas Beatty is Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Vice Chair of OB/GYN at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He currently serves on the Joint Trustee Committee, Patient Care Assessment Committee and Executive Committee of the Medical Staff. A clinical instructor of obstetrics and gynecology at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Beatty earned his medical degree from East Carolina University. Actively involved in patient safety and quality improvement activities, Dr. Beatty also serves as Associate Medical Director of Obstetrics for Controlled Risk Insurance Company of Vermont, Inc. (CRICO), the largest medical professional liability insurer in MA. He resides in Lincoln with his wife, Sylvie.
Christopher Collins is a Principal at ECG Management Consultants, a healthcare consulting firm, where he heads its national academic healthcare practice as well as the firm’s Boston office. He earned his Master of Health Services Administration from George Washington University School of Business. He previously served on Newton-Wellesley’s Board of Advisors. Christopher resides in Wellesley with his wife, Lisa, and three children.
Dr. Brenda Haynes is a former oncologist at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and previously served as a director of the Hospital’s Charitable Foundation. She also currently chairs the Hospital’s Development Committee and Resilience Council. Additionally, she was a member of the Leadership Gifts Committee, Chair of Annual Giving and Board of Trustees at The Winsor School in Boston. Dr. Haynes earned her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her internship, residency and fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Haynes resides in Wellesley with her husband, Adam and her three children.
Dr. Liza Meyerhardt is an internist at Newton-Wellesley Physicians – Primary Care in Needham, where she also serves as Medical Director for the Needham and Newton offices. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, serving as the Primary Care Chief Resident from 2003-2004. Dr. Meyerhardt earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and medical degree from Yale University. She resides in Needham with her husband, Jeffrey, and two children.
The Newton-Wellesley Hospital Board of Trustees is composed of key individuals from throughout the hospital’s service area, who are selected based on their professional background, expertise and overall commitment to the success of Newton-Wellesley Hospital. Trustees work closely with the Hospital’s management team to provide governance and leadership across a range of strategic priorities to ensure the long-term success and viability of the organization for generations to come.
Trustees participate on a variety of hospital committees including community benefits, quality and finance. In addition, they play a key role in philanthropic efforts at Newton-Wellesley, providing for the needed equipment and facilities required for the delivery of safe, high-quality care to our patients.
